Rebuilding Together Boston with Marcus Partners
Hyde Park, Boston – On Friday, October 3rd, volunteers from Marcus Partners, a real estate investment, management and development firm, joined Rebuilding Together Boston in Hyde Park to bring new life into a loving home.
Ms. R is a single mother to her 7-year-old son who has diabetes. She has owned her house in Hyde Park for seven years, often finding it hard to maintain. While balancing work and parenthood, the overwhelming pressure to preserve her property is where RTB came into play.

In the early AM, volunteers gathered at the single-family home nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac. The large group split into two teams, one working inside and the other outside.
Inside the home, key repairs included the installation of LVP flooring in the kitchen, painting the hallway, stairway, and first-floor living room walls, as well as clearing debris from the basement. RTB provided a chair and desk, which volunteers built for Ms. R.
Outside, the team was hard at work removing the old enclosure and installing an 80-inch stockade fence. Volunteers helped empty gutters around the home, cleared branches from the yard, and provided landscaping.
The final addition was a brand-new soccer net for Ms. R’s son, a gift sure to thrill any soccer-devoted 7-year-old. Immediately upon seeing the backyard, he set into a sprint to grab a soccer ball from inside the house and began practicing on his new goal.
Thanks to the hard work of Marcus Partners volunteers, the day ended with the reward of seeing a child smile. October 3rd marked overwhelming proof that only a few hours can turn a house into a home. Ms. R said, “I’m actually starting to feel like, ‘Wow, this is my home.’”
